I was looking through my favorites and saw this oil painting that I favorited a long time ago. I still remember the first time I looked at it I thought it was a digital painting.


The way he painted the walls reminds me of some sort of biological structures; sometimes quite alien looking. It's really cool, the details of the shading and the sharpness give it a very 3D look. They look like they should be in an epic sci-fi fiction!
This reminds me sci-fi looking illustration doesn't have to be done digitally - when we didn't have tablets back in the days, artists still painted sci-fi illustrations by hand. I always think that traditional painting is way harder to do, it takes more time, and you have to plan it out ahead because you won't be able to correct a lot of mistakes. While digital painting is easier because you can have layers separated and that makes it easier for us to correct mistakes, it still takes the same skills to paint. I think both media are great, but I can't help but respect traditional artists like
